Quilting: 9 Patch Block

This makes 5 total blocks

Strip set A (the top column on my block)

Light color- cut 2- 2 1/2" x 22" strips
Dark color- cut 4- 2 1/2" x 22" strips
1. Sew a strip set of fabric with a Dark-Light-Dark pattern (using the same face to face set up from the rail fence block). You can see mine in the first column of my 9 patch block above.
2. Press seams towards the dark fabric.
3. Once strip set it sewn, cut strip into 10- 2 1/2" segments.

Strip set B (the middle column on my block)
Light color- cut 2- 2 1/2" x 22" strips

Dark color- cut 1- 2 1/2" x 22" strip

1. Sew a strip set of Light-Dark-Light.

2. Press the seams.
3. Once strip set it sewn, cut strip into 5- 2 1/2" segments.

-Arrange segments from both sets into the 9-patch block pattern (as shown above in my block).
-Sew rows together, starting with sewing the top row to middle row. Then the bottom row to middle row and top row you just sewn together. Place all fabrics face to face when sewing, then press all the seams.

TIPS
-Make sure to line up the seams before stitching! If they aren't lining up, make sure the segment row seams are going in opposite directions. This way the seams can butt up against each other allowing the corners to meet nicely.
